My 2 Loli Cats: A Review on 1/7 Max Factory Kobato Hasegawa and Maria Takayama

Reporting back from the Summoner’s Rift. Back for more reviews on things which I adore most in my life, my Anime Figures.

Cats… Don’t we love em all? I sure do, but I don’t own one in real life. Well, how about human cats in bunny suits? That’s right, Max Factory made it possible.

These two ladies came from the Light Novel, turned into anime, Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai. The story, well, I don’t want to spoil you guys so just translate the title of the anime just to get a glimpse of what the anime is all about.

The Figure is art-based, meaning it won’t be aired on the anime while the characters wearing this. The reason I merged this two figures on one review is because one won’t be complete without the other one. Yes, you hear me right. I mean, it’s like Tom and Jerry without Tom in the show. Hope you catch my drift.

Now so much for that introduction let’s head to the figures itself!

Now ain’t that cute? Two of them just fresh outside of their own boxes. A little spoiler(again), these two, Maria Takayama(Left) and Kobato Hasegawa(right) are not in good terms at all. They always fight whenever they see each other… In a cute way.

There is a base on each figure, so don’t worry if you only want to buy one. One is the fluffy base is for Kobato as seen on the picture above this paragraph, and the checkered base is for Maria. And yes, I was lazy to remove the figures on the checkered base.

Ok, now let’s look onto Kobato.

Cuteness Overload I must say.

This was not included in the art, it’s an added bonus and serves as a balancing tool. Well, it can still stand without the bunny though.

Now onto Maria!

Who would have imagined that a Nun would wear this?

Now spamming pics for the pair!

I wish I had sisters like them. Ahem, so the pose is really accurate based on the art. The sculpt was really nice. There were no flaws at all (at least for me), expected from one of the major companies who make awesome figures. Priced 6400 Yen each, I think the price is fair.

Till next time guys, I’ll post more reviews maybe a week or so.

Special Thanks to: StarshipPooper for this image http://myfigurecollection.net/picture/634200&ref=item%3A103161

A Review on 1/6 Plum Touwa Erio.

Reporting back from City of Auch, iLikeLolis reporting for duty. So let’s start the review! Today, we’ll be featuring my favorite Alien Loli Character(again), Touwa Erio. Manufactured by Plum and Sculpted by Knead K@Z, this is one of my favorite figs that was ever made. So on to the pictures!

The Front view of the box, looks good but it is much smaller than you think. :D

The Back view of the box. It has the picture of the Original Art/Concept of the figure.

Front view of the figure. The pose is kinda seducing, basically the motif of the figure itself was waking up early in the morning. In the anime, this was not shown(Yeah, I would love to see it animated). Overall, the figure was nicely done.

Side view of the fig.

Now on to the details.

I just really love how they painted this figure. It was very accurate even the nails are colored.

The pantsu was nicely done. It was wrinkled which it should be.

The hair itself is so outstanding. It has the same color tone with Beach Queen Erio has.

Overall, it as really nice fig especially when you really like Touwa Erio. For a price of 6800 Yen and 1/6 scale, I’d say the price is good enough. If you are making a shrine, you probably want this to be included since it is the biggest among them.

Onii-chan’s Corner: Quality and What Really Matters

This post is made to help collectors with questions regarding the quality of items and to debunk fabricated myths about particular toys and figures. For further reading on this topic, please refer to HS Hobby’s excellent blog posts located here and here.

Your toys and figures? They’re made in China.

We often get asked by new collectors whether or not our figures are made in Japan or if Japan version figures are superior to Asia version figures. This is only natural as all collectors would want to avoid getting something that’s not worth their purchase. To make the long story (or blog post) short, figures are not manufactured in Japan. They’re made in China. But that doesn’t mean that they’re of poor quality or are bootlegs. Here’s why. Continue reading

Quick Review: Max Factory Figma Insane Black Rock Shooter

Max Factory Figma SP-41 Insane Black Rock Shooter

It’s been a while since I actually last posted and when I actually held a figure shoot. So, today, I am back for another not so quick review and this time we go to the land of stupid bundles with figma Insane Black Rock Shooter!

Nendoroid Spider-Man Now Open for Pre-orders!

Out of all the popular anime shows out there, it’s surprising that the latest Nendoroid figure from GSC is not from any 2D titles, but from the American movie “The Amazing Spider Man” featuring none other than the lead super hero himself, Spider Man (who else could it be?). I’m not really a fan of super heroes or nendoroids, but one thing that I can say about this figure is that it has a really nice overall texture and a very cute diorama. They did especially well with his eyes and the black lining of his tight outfit. He’s also part of the Super Movable nendoroid series, so wouldn’t have any worries on breaking joints for more flexible poses. If you’re a big fan of the series, this is surely a great collectible for you!

Pre-orders are now open! [LINK]

MegaHouse 1/8 Okumura Rin and Yukio Colored Preview!

MegaHouse 1/8 Rin and Okumura was announced last year and it was only a few days ago that a photo taken from Hobby Japan’s page has circulated, featuring the colored version of the said figures. As usual, it has the sleek color finish that MegaHouse is known for. Overall, another great set of male figures from MegaHouse!

GSC 1/8 Ryogi Shiki Garannodou Re-release!

GSC 1/8 Shiki Ryogi Garannodou
Kara no Kyoukai
Y6190
Nov 2008 / Nov 2012

Based from the GSC re-sale poll, she ranked as the top 2 most wanted figure among hundreds of other scaled figures for re-sale. In fact, she’s so rare and popular that the market price for the 1st release figure is now as high as Y16,000 which is a value not so surprising for a very simplistic yet magnificent and elegant figure. Lucky for the collectors who wish to have her, she’s now available again for pre-order with a retail price of only Y6190. Don’t miss your second (and probably the last) chance to grab her!

Pre-orders are now open! (For PH market only): [LINK]

Nendoroid Snow Miku 2013 Design Contest Winning Entry Announced!

The winning entry for the Nendoroid Snow Miku 2013 design contest has finally been revealed. The theme is that it has to be related to Snow Miku and a bunch of pastries. Over the hundreds of submitted entries that featured generic foreign cakes and desserts, the winning design resembles a traditional Japanese snack, the strawberry mochi. As you can see, she’s also adorned with traditional Japanese clothing and accessories. A very deserving winner, indeed!

She’ll be for sale by 2013 (obviously) as a limited and exclusive nendoroid. Ready your money, folks!

GSC Nendoroid Insane Black★Rock Shooter

GSC Nendoroid Insane Black★Rock Shooter
Black★Rock Shooter

July 2012 / Nov 2012

OMGBBQ INSANE BLACK★ROCK SHOOTER NENDOROID, NOBODY EXPECTED THIS! Yeah right. Of course everyone expected this Nendoroid already after they have sold the figma Insane Black★Rock Shooter that was exclusively bundled with the B★RS Anime BD/DVD (buttload expensive btw). To keep the milking process of this franchise uniform, Nendoroid iB★RS will also be sold as an exclusive + limited item. Figures.

Max Factory 1/7 Samurai (Student Style)

Max Factory 1/7 Samurai (Student Style)
7th Dragon 2020
Y9333
October 2012

New and unexpected figure announcement from Max Factory! I didn’t know that this game 7th Dragon 2020 exists prior to the figure announcement, but as a huge Miwa Shirow fan this announcement really shook me. Unfortunately, I am bothered by her high price, long neck and weird knee caps. I may pass on this one, but I’ll excitedly check her out in person  if ever one of my mates will buy her.

Pre-orders are now open!

TOC at Umagang Kay Ganda!

Status

Hi everyone. With Toycon less than a week away, promotions for the event are in high gear and this coming Wednesday, Team Onii-chan, along with other toy groups, will be a guest appearance on ABS-CBN’s early morning show, Umagang Kay Ganda! We will be bringing some figures with us to the show and hopefully, talk a bit about our growing hobby. We hope you can all tune in and watch us ^^

Reminders for Ingress and Other Important Stuff (ToyCon 2012)

For all Team Onii-chan members, figure lenders and those who will be guarding the display, here are some reminders to take note of. This primarily concerns the ingress and egress schedules, duties and conduct in the display area.

INGRESS

1. Ingress will be on June 15, 2012 from 12 nn to 10 pm at the SM Megatrade Hall Conference Rooms. However, according to ToyCon officials, only 5 members of the team will be allowed to stay within the conference room for the ingress. These members are Onii-chan, Murakami Night, scary.chii, Kai and Ash (final already).

2. Because of this, we will be asking lenders of figures to meet with us outside of the conference room to hand us their figures instead. Once you arrive outside the conference room, please immediately look for anyone of the 5 listed above and sign on our records. This will help us take note of the figures you’ve brought for the display.

3. For those who can bring risers (acrylic preferably), please do bring them to the ingress so we can prepare them inside the cabs immediately.

EVENT PROPER

1. Please take care of your belongings. Team Onii-chan will not be responsible for any losses due to carelessness (such as leaving any expensive items unattended to). Your PSPs, DSLRs and such items are your responsibility. If you lose them because you left them somewhere, do not fault us for it.

2. Do not bring food inside the event hall.

3. Always keep a friendly disposition. Do not incite fights with your fellow members or with the public. There may be times when the crowds are a bit rowdy so we ask for your patience in dealing with them.

4. We only have 3 IDs given out by the ToyCon committee which will be used by the admins. As a result, you will be required to purchase tickets to be able to enter the event area. We are very sorry for this as ToyCon (even in previous years) really just gives out 3 IDs for their exhibitors.

5. If any TV reporters (yes, there will be TV coverage of the display) come to the display and asks questions, please answer them seriously (well not too serious but you get my point) and in a friendly tone. Also, don’t forget to prep up before being interviewed. Be in your most presentable look. *wink*

EGRESS

1. Egress will start at 7:30 pm of June 17. If you absolutely need to leave earlier than that, please inform any of the Team Onii-chan admins (Onii-chan, scary.chii, kettenkrad or Murakami Night) before doing so.

2. You can leave your boxes at the display area but please be mindful that space is quite limited at the display area and ToyCon wants us to be organized and tidy in keeping our things there.

That’s all for the reminders for ToyCon 2012! Follow them to heart and we assure you that we won’t be having problems for the display. This is our first ever ToyCon display and we hope that it will be a successful one for us as well!

- Onii-chan :)
