Alter Nanoha -Summer holiday- Makes You Look Forward to Those Youthful Summer Days

Alter has set the standard for “Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha” figures and with an upcoming movie next year, the franchise’s successes will only lead to more figures from the said manufacturer such as this latest offering of the main character, Takamachi Nanoha in her “StrikerS” self wearing an enticing swimsuit for some summer fun. GSC Millhiore F. Biscotti is Supremely Gorgeous, Behold the Future of Figure Sculpting

Some time ago, we featured Griffon’s Millhiore F. Biscotti here and to be blunt about it, it didn’t impress me. Sure the frills were above average but everything else spelled mediocre and while the “DOG DAYS” anime was just as mediocre (despite being a “spiritual successor” to the Nanoha series), the Princess of Biscotti clearly deserved better. Thankfully Good Smile Company is doing things right with their Millhiore and dare I say, this might be one of the blockbuster figures of 2012 already, judging from the preview images. Alter Gertrud Barkhorn Glides to Your Pre-order List, Retains the Pantsu-less Tradition

Alter rarely completes a whole cast of characters when they make figures from a particular anime series. In fact, apart from their now legendary “Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha” figures (which includes the sequels, “A’s” and “StrikerS”), few series have a complete set of characters from the said manufacturer, “Saki” and “Kara no Kyoukai” to name a few. However, as if divine intervention had convinced them to do so, Alter’s fully committed to completing the whole pantsu-less 501st Joint Fighter Wing of “Strike Witches.” This time, their latest announcement is the MG42-wielding Gertrud Barkhorn. Hobby Japan December 2011 Scans (OH GOD, YES SHISHIO!!!)

Another Hobby Japan issue, another round of figures to salivate upon. Scans for the December issue of Japan’s foremost hobby collectors’ magazine don’t quite reach epic levels, but compared to last month’s downright boring announcements, these ones are much more excitable. Continue reading

Kotobukiya Nanoha Uniform Ver. is Late for School, Never Too Late to Go to Your Home

The orange-haired “White Devil,” Takamachi Nanoha, from “Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha The MOVIE 1st” will be getting another scale figure courtesy of solid, but seldom awesome manufacturer, Kotobukiya. The new figure depicts Nanoha frantically eating a piece of bread while putting on her school shoes, possibly to avoid being late for the dreadful school life ahead of her. Continue reading

C3xHOBBY Event Roundup: Same Old, Same Old… Only In Technicolor

Unsatisfied with the semi-annual monetary carnage brought about by Wonder Festival, figure manufacturers have once again brought out their wares for future consumption. However, unlike WonFes, C3xHOBBY seems more like a minor technicolor preview of already featured goods, rather than the major blockbuster wallet beat down we’ve come to expect. There won’t be comments on most of the figures, except those with undesirable stuff to note of (like release dates and if available, price) as we’ve covered them already in the previous Wonder Festival coverages. More pics after the break… Continue reading

Onii-chan no Loooooot-oh!

I spent the whole day today helping out mai waifu in her booth at the Kpop and Culture Fest 2011 at SM Megamall without any expectations of additional loot aside from my MegaHouse Kenshin (goes giddy fanboy mode) which I ordered from AmiAmi through her. However, that all changed when we passed by a certain comic shop. Continue reading

WF Summer 2011: Kotobukiya

Kotobukiya has always been something of a “tweener” for me; a company that doesn’t exactly excel but delivers some solid pieces. This WF is no less different as they have some interesting figures, but none that borders on the level of masterpieces. Continue reading
