Volunteer Your Vocaloid Figures For The VocaFusion Figure Display!!!

After our gigantic Ozine Fest 2012 figure display, you would think that we’d take a break and rest on our laurels, but with so much opportunities in front of us, we simply can’t sit around and let them pass by. So we’re very very happy to announce that Team Onii-chan Figure Display Crew will be having another figure display next month in VocaFusion at the SMX Convention Center Function Room 1 in Pasay City. The said convention will be on May 20, 2012 from 11 am to 8 pm. With the title being Vocafusion, it’s quite obvious that the event will be centered on the Vocaloid franchise. As such, our figure display will be a purely Vocaloid character display. Continue reading

figma Uesugi Kenshin is a beautiful Swordswoman

Wow… so much revelations in such a short amount of time and things fall apart that showing more new revealed stuff is quite quick. A new figure to enter the firing line. It’s ze strongest samurai swordswoman in Japan from the PC Game Sengoku Rance, Uesugi Kenshin to enter the figma line. Continue reading

figma Michael Jackson Relives Your Dad’s Thriller Dancing Sessions

The brewing battle among articulated figure manufacturers has reached fever pitch with Kaiyodo’s Revoltech and Max Factory’s figma product lines at the forefront. With figma retaining their stranglehold in Japanese character dominance, Revoltech has recently turned its attention more to Western cultural icons, such as DC’s Batman, Jurassic Park’s T-Rex, Marvel’s Iron Man and others to name a few. However, with the market still in its infancy stage, Max Factory would also like to take a share of that pie and has also started its own Western campaign, albeit in a smaller scale. One such example of this is their recent release (yes, he’s out!) of the timeless Michael Jackson in his Thriller self. Continue reading

Hobby Japan December 2011 Scans (OH GOD, YES SHISHIO!!!)

Another Hobby Japan issue, another round of figures to salivate upon. Scans for the December issue of Japan’s foremost hobby collectors’ magazine don’t quite reach epic levels, but compared to last month’s downright boring announcements, these ones are much more excitable. Continue reading

Figma Saber and Rider Re-released, Max Factory Just Trolled Scalper Clients

20111014-130113.jpg

With the new entry in the “Fate” universe, “Fate/Zero,” underway, Max Factory has taken the glorious task of trolling everyone who bought their undoubtedly popular “Fate/Stay Night” figmas of Saber and Rider at higher than normal prices. Continue reading

Collecticon 2011 Event Report (No Need For Parental Guidance Here)

20111011-070040.jpg
Even though we’re looking forward to our next display at AME Monogatari next month, our presence at Collecticon 2011 was no slouch at all means whatsoever. In fact, given the limited space, we still managed to put up a great display with a good mix of old favorites and stunnin new releases. Continue reading

figma Kyoko and Saber/Zero Previewed, Guess Which One I’m Excited For?

New figmas have been announced recently that should appease a lot of both these characters fans, although I’m not particularly fond of one of them for reasons which I shall torture you (translation: rant) with later. First off, the character which I really, really, reeeeeaaally admire, “Puella Magi Madoka Magica’s” Sakura Kyoko. Kyoko might not garner the same level of popularity as the other puella magi, but I found her backstory quite interesting and her voracious appetite very cute. Her exposed fang is of course, also one of her biggest selling points. The figma looks to be excellent again, and I’m sure that huge spear she holds will make for some pretty dynamic poses. I’m hoping there’s not much in terms of paint quality issues, but so far, the uncolored prototype is already an A++ for me. Continue reading

Team Onii-chan! At The Best of Anime 2011 Day 2

Another great weekend, another awesome convention to remember by. The Best of Anime 2011 was by no means a convention of the highest caliber, by normal standards, however, the figure display that Team Onii-chan! put together was once again the source of our joy and pride. I guess its a testament to the wonderful company that these guys are that makes every display a fulfilling and worthwhile event. Anyways, I wouldn’t remember The Best of Anime 2011 as an outstanding convention but more for the overwhelming fun factor involved. Here’s some pics from day 2.

Team Onii-chan! at The Best of Anime 2011 Day 1

Day 1 of The Best of Anime 2011 has just closed its chapter and along with it, Team Onii-chan’s display event for the said event. While the crowd was not at par with that of Otaku Expo 2011′s or the display area as well-protected, the convention was still enjoyable and full of energy as the team continues to build its reputation for being the most active and fan-friendly anime toy collecting community in the country today. As always, here’s some shots that I’ve taken from both the event and our totally awesome display. Continue reading

The “OreImo” craze looks to be as strong as ever even if the anime has already come to pass, as GSC and Max Factory announced a re-release of 2 of their most popular figures the series, Nendoroid Kuroneko and figma Kirino, respectively. Continue reading

Dengeki Kyousuke Might Be An Oddball But At Least Your figma Has An Onii-chan Now

20110913-083021.jpg

Dengeki has long been known as a publisher of quality otaku magazines, which at times includes coupons for desirable mail-order exclusives. They continue this trend with their latest announcement of a Kousaka Kyousuke figure that may not be must-have material (few otaku want their collections “tainted” by PVC testosterone), but certainly unique. figma Miku Append Celebrates Max Factory’s Control Over Your Buying Habit

With the figma line rapidly growing in astounding popularity and sales, it’s no secret that for its centennial entrant, an iconic character worthy of that distinction would have to be chosen. To no surprise, the transcendental diva of the digital age, Hatsune Miku, in her Append version, was chosen to be the special 100th figma. Continue reading
