As mentioned on my last post, I’ll be redoing some reviews which wasn’t satisfactory for me.
Many moons ago, I was a huge noob when it came to cameras; only knowing 3 things:
1. How to turn-on/off.
2. Where the shutter button is.
3. Charge when camera dies.
Shutter speed, white balance, and other photography terms were nothing more than statistics and calculus to me, making my early reviews subpar compared to the standard used in the figure blogging realm.
All things said, today’s quick figure review will be featuring Max Factory’s 100th figma, the lovely Hatsune Miku Append Ver.

Released sometime around September last year, she is Max Factory’s attempt to re-image Miku’s more vivid side into an affordable figure. As you all know, Append is an another voicebank for our 3d diva, giving her a more dramatic, soft, and realistic voice compared to the usual. Being a Mikutard, I could not pass up the opportunity to have Hatsune Miku as my first figure.

As a figure, Miku Append looks gorgeous – a slender body accompanying a “mature” face is quite great even for a lolicon like me.

Looking at the side beautifully profiles her hair, with the gradient effect, it’s as if her hair is flowing into nothingness.

A closer look reveals rather nifty details on the figure. I.can’t.seem.to.close.that.space . . . . *sigh* damn

Probably the main highlight of this figure. As explained above, Append Miku features a more vivid and dramatic feel, thus a more “mature” face – a slight break from the usual cheery Miku.

Probably the only accessories that come from the seemingly huge but mostly empty box – “awakened” parts are the signature of Append.

Append Miku comes with an extra stomach part revealing more of Miku’s rather sexy Append body. If you hadn’t noticed yet, I actually broke the open part of her stomach – repaired it with some hobby plastic cement (thank you former gunpla hobby!)

A serene “closed eyes” face plate is also available. Hmmm, somehow fits the dark background.

That pretty much concludes this rather quick review. As my first figure (yes, my very first) I still hold plenty of sentiments towards it, it brings back a lot of memories when I just started to consider figure collecting. As for the figure itself, it holds up to its title and name as the 100th figma. Though accessories are sparse compared to usual, the playability and photograph opportunity greatly makes up for it. Enjoyed the photoshoot a lot (can’t say the same about posing the figure though) definitely a whole lot better than what I did here many moons ago.

ToyCon is one of the most attended local conventions and for good reason. It is the biggest gathering of pop culture enthusiasts in the Philippines. Everything from toys, cosplay and even celebrity appearances can be found here. This is why we are so excited to announce that for the first time ever, Team Onii-chan Figure Display Crew will be having an anime figure display at ToyCon 2012 from June 15 to 17, 2012 at the SM Megamall Megatrade Halls 1-3. What makes this display even more special is that we will be displaying our collections with all the other toy groups in the Philippines. Our inclusion is really a humbling opportunity which we are grateful for.

For this display however, we will be doing things a bit differently and will not be opening slots for lending. We will also be keeping the list of figures under wraps for a bit of a surprise. Nevertheless, we hope that you can all visit our display at ToyCon 2012 and support us in this great event. :)

As with most Nendoroids, she comes with a lot of accessories and face plates so you can recreate some of her most popular poses in the show. However, it would probably be the details on her dress and those gorgeous wings which would receive the most attention from fans. What do you think?

Adding to the play value of this excellent Nendoroid is the inclusion of the main character, Haruyuki, in his avatar form, which is a pig. It’s quite cute isn’t it? Kuroyukihime also has her signature umbrella with her for that dignified look.

GSC’s highly anticipated Nendoroid Kuroyukihime will be released in September 2012 with a pretty hefty price of 3800 yen. She’s quite a hot item though so better order her now!

For all Team Onii-chan members, figure lenders and those who will be guarding the display, here are some reminders to take note of. This primarily concerns the ingress and egress schedules, duties and conduct in the display area.

1. Ingress will be on May 20, 2012 from 9 am to 11 am at the SMX Convention Center Function Room 1. Once you arrive at the event area, please immediately look for Onii-chan or scary.chii and sign on our records. This will help us take note of the figures you’ve brought for the display. For new lenders: please text us at 09234705205 once you’ve arrived at the venue so we can meet up with you .

2. Please take care of your belongings. Team Onii-chan will not be responsible for any losses due to carelessness (such as leaving any expensive items unattended to). Your PSPs, DSLRs and such items are your responsibility. If you lose them because you left them somewhere, do not fault us for it.

3. Do not bring food inside the event hall.

4. Always keep a friendly disposition. Do not incite fights with your fellow members or with the public. There may be times when the crowds are a bit rowdy so we ask for your patience in dealing with them.

5. We do not have an exact number of IDs for this event. Therefore, please be prepared to pay for the ticket price once you get there. However, please text us first if you’re on the way so we can inform you beforehand if you will need to pay for tickets or not.

6. Egress will start at 7 pm of May 20. If you absolutely need to leave earlier than that, please inform any of the Team Onii-chan admins (Onii-chan, scary.chii, kettenkrad or Murakami_Night) before doing so.

7. You can leave your boxes at the display area. Just hide them under the tables so the display looks neat and tidy.

The flag of Germany flies in the sky as Laura Bodewig from the mecha-musume anime “Infinite Stratos” sorties out in her Schwarzer Regen courtesy of Bandai with their Armor Girl Project [AGP] line.

Laura’s Schwarzer Regen is definitely bringing the heat with her railgun making her a formidable opponent at long ranged. Even if the opponent gets close to her, she can still deal her opponents with her beam sabers/spears generated through her hands. With the revelation of this, you can expect the others to follow suit.

Laura Bodewig in her Schwarzer Regen will be available by August of 2012 with the cost 7800 yen.

Konnichiwa Minna-san! Here again for one of those long over due figure reviews. Today will be taking a peek (and a very long one at that XD) into GSC’s 1/8 rendition of Lat’s popular 3D model from the “MikuMikuDance” program. An immediate grab for me after seeing a certain pair of red rimmed megane.

 
The Lat Type Miku, sporting a rather bouncy look, gives off a really happy and adorable vibe and when paired up with the incredibly moe smile, any Mikutard out there would be sure to shriek out in joy.
 

Looking it at the side reveals the full beauty of her flowing hair. She comes with accessories such as 2 microphones (a black and grey one), 2 pairs of glasses (can be used for nendo petits) as well as, 2 stands (one to match the one for the original GSC Miku)

Her simple but KAWAII glasses seemingly give a new feel and character to Miku, it levels up Miku’s moeness up to 9999, too adorable even to human eyes >_< GSC did a good yet standard job on Miku's face, nothing much has to be said.
 

Something to always watch out on when buying scale figs are small details which sometimes determine whether or not they’re actually worth it.

Her hair pins have clear purple parts which makes them way more awesome <======= obvious sucker for clear parts XD
 
Also love the Hatsune Miku wording in Miku’s arm
 
Her hair makes you think that Miku is actually in motion, just hate the plastic look to it, it feels very very cheap T^T
 

Lat Miku also features a new top, painted in a slight glossy dirty white which profiles Miku in a new but very refreshing way.

Love the figure, yes, though one thing kept me thinking, why did GSC make Miku’s skirt removable O.o? . . . . . . . . . Now featuring Miku in all her “stripped”? glory!

Mold and Shading is done very well with the bellybutton and the butt, was GSC expecting us to display a skirtless Miku?
 

Putting all things said aside, I really love this version of Miku as well as taking pictures of her, making it worth the time and effort.
 

GSC, being true to their word, did a great job on the quality of the figure, a plethora of small details and a simple but nice paint job combined with the Miku’s moe and the cheerful like dynamism of the figure, provides fans and non-fans alike, a must buy scale figure, probably not the best Miku out there, but definitely is a must buy. A personal favorite because of its overwhelming cuteness. Bought her around for 5500 yen from a certain hobby shop around here in my neck of woods.

Yesterday Mikatan reviewed another Nendoroid and this time its Princess of the Crystal from the series Mawaru Penguindrum. She first debuted during Wonder Fest 2012 Winter as a prototype displayed along its Figma and Scale counterpart.

Mikatan havent revealed her price and release date but she never failed to give us extensive shots of this figure.

Due to the Golden week in Japan, her pre-order will open May 8, 2012.
