Sorry for the lack of posts recently as we’ve been quite busy with the just concluded Ozine Fest Anime Figure Special (which I’ll be doing a post on soon), but we’re now back to give you updates on some of the most eye-catching figures to come out from Japan. Griffon Enterprises has been known much for its steady releases of “Touhou Project” figures and while not all of them are considered to be top-tier quality, there are some like this POP Ver. of main character Reimu Hakurei that grabs notice. The Ozine Fest Anime Figure Special, the biggest figure centered event ever in the Philippines, is just around the corner and preparations are now in high gear as we try to serve up the best display you’ll ever see this year. Of course, to help us with the preparations, Ozine management has given us an ingress day in advance to avoid the rush and to make sure that everything’s perfect by the start of the event. For existing Team Onii-chan members, you might be familiar with most of these already but for the new lenders, please do read the details below. Thanks. Continue reading
Good Smile Company has stepped up its game in recent months with excellent figure offerings but this time, it’s going for the stars with their latest announcement which should blow the minds of every single otaku out there (yes, even those who aren’t into collecting) with its sheer awesomeness and insane engineering. This 1/8 scale figure of Saber from the celebrated anime, “Fate/Zero,” depicts her riding her personal vehicle, the Saber Motored Cuirassier while holding Excalibur at her side. Continue reading
In order to properly guard the figures during the event, we shall be implementing shifting schedules to ensure that there will always be people present at the display area. These people will also be held accountable for all responsibilities and duties expected of Team Onii-chan! members while they are on shift. To be included in the crew for a particular shift, simply submit your name and shift schedule as comments below :)
Notes: Number of volunteers per shift is not limited to 10)
(We’ll announce those 12 volunteers who will get free IDs)

More figures are being shown in the coming of holiday season and it’s time to show a very cute Nendoroid of the “small” reliable waitress Taneshima Popura from the anime which is set in a family restaurant “WORKING!!”.
Last December 17, 2011, Team Onii-chan Figure Display Crew had its first ever Christmas party which was held at Yumemiya Japanese Cafe. The party was both a celebration of Team Onii-chan’s various and unparalleled successes over the year and a big thank you to all of our fun-loving members who have all contributed to spreading the joy of figure collecting to the Philippine otaku community. Even if the team has only been around for 7 months, the great turnout for the Christmas party and the friendly and accommodating atmosphere that’s been cultivated into the DNA of the group bodes well for even bigger and better things to come in the future. Currently running on its second season, “WORKING!” has been a very popular show even with its simple premise and Alter has capitalized on this by releasing figures from the series. After Yamada who has just been out of production, they’re now up to task with arguably the most recognizable face from the show, none other than the tiny sempai of the crew, Taneshima Popura. Continue reading
Touhou-centralized figure manufacturer, Ques Q, has yet again managed to take fans by surprise (well, not really) by having this beautiful figure up for pre-orders today. And this time, it’s in the form of the Youkai of Boundaries, who is none other than Yakumo Yukari herself. Continue reading
Another unexpected character had been nendorized by GSC and this time its Sana Inui of Mashiroiro Symphony. This anime is still airing (i think, im only in the 5th episode OTL) and yet she already had a nendoroid rendition just like Yozora and Sena of Haganai. Anyway, we still dont have information on her release date but i sense Mikatan will introduce her soon.

Good Smile Company has finally announced the last Puella Magi to complete their “Madoka Magica” Nendoroid lineup who is none other than the crimson apple-muncher, Sakura Kyoko. Continue reading
Towa Erio from “Dempa Onna to Seishun Otoko” is one of the popular characters that figure companies have recently taken interest in making. A few weeks ago, we featured FREEing’s offering, which for a lack of a better word, looks like a second-rate sale bin destined piece. With so many Erios to choose from yet so little that actually look like her, Plum has put those concerns to rest with their own Erio that from this writer’s point-of-view looks to be the definitive and perfect Erio to get. Continue reading
Alter’s been known to re-release highly popular figures, especially in times when a sequel of a show that a particular character is part of is announced. Next season, the final season of the much heralded “Zero no Tsukaima” will be broadcast and as such, Alter has decided to re-release arguably its best ever rendition of the main character Louise, labeled as the Goth Punk Ver. With the Ozine Fest Anime Figure Special nearing, I’m sure a lot of you are wondering what activities are in store for the con goers this time since this is a very unique event that’s the first of its kind in the country. We’ve just received the official list of events from Ozine management and based from what we’ve gotten, this is certainly one of the most innovative conventions yet. Without further ado, here are the things that you should look forward to this coming December 28 and 29 at the SM Megamall Megatrade Hall 1. Continue reading
Alter has set the standard for “Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha” figures and with an upcoming movie next year, the franchise’s successes will only lead to more figures from the said manufacturer such as this latest offering of the main character, Takamachi Nanoha in her “StrikerS” self wearing an enticing swimsuit for some summer fun. In recent years I’ve found myself watching tokusatsu shows and have grown fond of them. My childhood years were spent idolizing heroes such as Kamen Rider Black (and RX) and Super Sentai teams such as Maskman, Bioman, Turboranger, Fiveman, Jetman just to name a few. As I grew up though, I lost touch with the succeeding series until two years ago when out of curiosity, I watched Kamen Rider Decade. Why watch again? Well, mainly due to the gimmick that he can use the powers of the previous Riders, which piqued my interest. The same can be said for this year’s Super Sentai offering, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. The ability to use the powers of their predecessors immediately hooked me into the franchises once again. This is why I’m extremely excited of the news that a Kamen Rider vs. Super Sentai movie is in the works since it’s basically unheard of before. The thought of two of the most iconic franchises in Japanese pop culture history joining forces in one mega movie is every tokusatsu fan boy’s wet dream.
What’s even more surprising is that the lead characters for the movie will be Kamen Rider Decade and the Gokaiger team. Gokaiger I can understand since they’re the featured Sentai team as of the moment (despite the succeeding team already being revealed), but Decade was out of the left field. I thought that Fourze (this year’s Rider) would’ve been tagged as the main Rider for this but apparently Toei’s willing to forgive Decade for his poorly written plot and bring him and his imbalanced powers back. So far, a May 2012 release date is confirmed and that the Den-Liner crew will be returning, hinting at Kamen Rider Den-O having a big role here again. The casts of Kamen Rider Fourze and Tokumei Sentai Gobuster (the new squad after Gokaiger) are also appearing. It’s kind of weird how they’d fit into a movie with Decade and Gokaiger as leads, but whatever. Japan’s in for a hell of a 2012 with so much good stuff for otaku to dig in, but this one might just top them all.
Confirmed cast for Kamen Rider vs. Super Sentai “Super Hero Taisen” (tentative title):
- Masahiro Inoue (Decade)
- Ryota Ozawa (GokaiRed)
- Rina Akiyama (Naomi from Den-O)
- Kenjiro Ishimaru (Owner/Stationmaster from Den-O)
Aizu Project – known for sexy, ecchi, cast-off feature anime figures will release again one of their profitable characters, Ryomou Shimei of Ikki Tousen, the manufacturer labeled it as from the 4th Season Xtreme Xecutor. As one of the main babe protagonists of the series, Mou-chan is in her black maid outfit. Meido-fetishes in all aspects hit so high as she seduces all masters with her daring look and nice assets.
Basically Mou-chan will not fight a battle without her trademark handcuffs. As one of the pound for pound queens of the series, I’m quite surprise that she is holding a weapon. A weapon that will target our precious hearts.
Obviously, an Ikki Tousen fig preview is not complete without this sexy pantsu shot. I’m not a fan of her, I’m more in love with Kanu Unchou, but this fig is pretty hard not to look at. Hehehehe XD
It is made of Cold Cast, that is why her price is a whopping 16,800 Yen and will be released late May 2012…
Very lovely…. She is Tsurumi Chiriko, the 2nd Beach Queen fig ( Meiko “Menma: Honma was the first ) of the tear jerking anime series Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai (Basically the longest anime title that i’ve ever encountered XD) or more popularly known as Ano Hana…
Her meganekko princess aura suits her logical and quite personality…Tsuruko is just too sexy on her pose… I’m torn between her and Anaru… :)
So above her moeness, she still cute without her eyeglasses…thanks to that hairclip (originally/supposedly Yukiatsu’s gift to Menma before the latter died ) ..
I like her more with the longer hair, but this extra hair accessories is another FTW, ‘Coz her look here is the new and optimistic Tsuruko (better watch the last episode of the series)
….So with the release of her…I’m really hoping that wave will also release Anjou “Anaru” Naruko… :)
You can preorder her for a good amount of 3800 Yen with a release date of late June next year.
Griffon Enterprises is not shy about re-releasing new sculpts of “Touhou Project” characters they’ve already done in the past and true to this trend is their latest pre-order announcement of a third Flandre Scarlet scale figure, this time incorporating the best features of their previous Flandres into one delectable package. Continue reading
Bandai who just had their Tamashii Nation 2011 Event showed us many things that made us jelly. And one of them is from the Mecha-Musume Anime Infinite Stratos, and they first launch out Cecilia Alcott in her IS Blue Tears. Continue reading
The character everyone (or at least everyone I knew) loved to hate. Suzaku certainly did not endear himself to many “Code Geass” fans with his annoying idealism and lack of fabulousness, and yet despite that, we’re actually getting a scale figure of him from Alpha X Omega (an Alter and MegaHouse collaboration) which from a purely objective standpoint, actually looks purchase-worthy. Continue reading
Good Smile Company has had a history of making historic characters into figures, such as Mickey Mouse, Michael Jackson and to a certain extent, Billy Herrington. For the 20th anniversary of the “Sonic” game series, GSC will be turning the much beloved blue rodent into a Nendoroid. Continue reading
Satoshi Toda is a divisive name in the figure collecting world. His sculpts are either a breath of fresh air or a blasphemy to original character designers. This debate continues in Gift’s latest pre-order announcement of Toda’s Saber Extra from the PSP game, “Fate/Extra.” Continue reading
