“Madoka Magica” Trilogy Films Confirmed, All Hail the Goddess!!!

Newtype magazine just revealed that there would be a new “Fate/Zero” project in the works, but an even bigger announcement from the respected source is that there will be a trilogy of films for the blockbuster mahou shoujo anime, “Puella Magi Madoka Magica.” According to the source, the trilogy will comprise of 2 films that are a compilation of the epic TV series (I’m guessing they’ll reanimate some stuff and make things more fabulous) and the 3rd and final film will feature an all-new storyline by none other than Gen Urobuchi. Akiyuki Shimbo will once again take the reigns in directing the films. In fact, Shimbo, himself mentioned that he had subtitles like “Incubator Strikes Back” or “Incubator’s Counterattack” in mind for the last movie, leading to more speculation that the climactic finish to the franchise would be a sequel to the TV storyline.

It has also been mentioned that Urobuchi has finished the final script of the last film already and production is already underway. Being a maniacal fan of “Madoka Magica,” words cannot do justice to the intense excitement that I’m feeling right now. Yes, the 2 compilation films are good, but obviously the big fish in the pond here is the 3rd movie, which I’m 99.99% sure will feature Homuhomu wielding our Goddess‘ bow, all while that cute fur ball of evil, QB, smirks like the troll he is. Plot-wise, I don’t know what it’ll be about, but since it’s an Urobuchi work, I’m sure it’s going to have its healthy dose of death and despair. Now if you’ll excuse me I’ll now be rejoicing while rolling on my bed and hugging my QB pillow.
